Lauryn Hill Delivers a Special Drake Remix
Connecting “Ex-Factor” and “Nice for What.”
Back in March, a brief clip featuring Drake rapping over a sample of Lauryn Hill‘s Miseducation of Lauryn Hill standout “Ex-Factor” surfaced. “Titled ‘Showin Off,’ Drake can be heard repeating the chorus, “You’re showin’ off, but it’s alright. You’re showin’ off, but it’s alright and it’s a short life,” over the track,” we originally wrote. Since then, the record has been turned into the recent single “Nice for What.” Now, as she continues to perform and prepares to embark on an expansive headlining tour, Lauryn Hill has debuted her own Drake rework.
Specifically, Lauryn Hill took the to the stage of New York’s Apollo theater last night, May 1, to flip and blend the original effort and Drake’s “Nice for What.” “See this is ‘Ex-Factor’/He took the sample/My shit is classic/Here’s an example,” she sings, freestyling some new lyrics.
