Kanye West to Receive Special Achievement Award at Webbys
For his “contribution to internet culture.”

Kanye West will receive a Special Achievement Award at this year’s Webby Awards for his “contributions to Internet culture.” This is largely due to his latest album, The Life of Pablo, which was the first to reach No. 1 on the Billboard charts based on streaming. Webby Awards executive director David-Michel Davies said in a statement regarding the nomination that Ye has “leveraged the immense influence and addictive elements of streaming media to drive innovation on the Internet.” Previous nominees include Björk, David Bowie, Prince, the Beastie Boys, LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz, Trent Reznor, Frank Ocean, Grimes, David Byrne, and De La Soul.
