Beyonce & Prince Dominate the Billboard Charts
How will Drake and Skepta’s projects fare in the coming week?
As most probably expect to find out, Beyonce and Prince are running the chart game right now. We’ve already reported on Beyonce’s recent, record-breaking moves and Prince’s dominance is pretty self-explanatory, but here’s what the Billboard charts are looking like right now.
With her new and sixth studio album Lemonade, Beyonce is shattering past records and fully flexing. Queen Bey’s latest LP No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, Digital Albums and even Vinyl Albums. Of course, Lemonade has also taken over the top spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and R&B Albums. With Drake’s new album VIEWS out and competing for many top spots, let’s see how Beyonce’s reign looks in a few days.
Following his untimely passing, Prince continues to find posthumous success on the charts. Prince is No. 1 on the Artist 100, while his massive hit “Purple Rain” is No. 1 on the Digital Songs and the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs charts, while the Purple Rain soundtrack itself is No. 1 on the Tastemaker Albums chart. The Very Best of Prince is also No. 1 on Catalog Albums, and the Purple Rain soundtrack also dominates the Soundtracks chart. As the week goes by, expect Prince’s name to continue to fill up the number one slots on the Billboard charts.
By the end of the week, the U.K.’s current crowned king of grime Skepta will have released his new album Konnichiwa. Next week, we’ll see how well a popular, fast-rising grime talent can perform on U.S. charts.
