Meant for the upcoming iPhones rumored to release this September.

TSMC, a processor supplier for Apple, has begun mass production for this year’s upcoming iPhones, which are rumored to drop in September. The new A12 chip is speculated to be the first to utilize a 7-nanometer process in a commercial device, something on the precipice of fruition for years in the tech industry.
7nm technology allows chips to be smaller as well as faster, bringing more efficiency to smartphones and possibly lowering the cost of how chips are manufactured going forward. Apple’s A11 Bionic and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, a processor used in Samsung’s Galaxy S9, are currently made with a 10nm process. Samsung has stated it will begin producing 7nm at scale next year.
