Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is the official director for the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. The action film following characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw will be written by Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan.

Leitch has directed other blockbuster action films such as Atomic Blonde and John Wick alongside Chad Stahelski. Leitch also had a previous career as a stunt double/coordinator prior to his turn in the director’s chair.

The film is set to hit theaters July 26, 2019.

In other film news, the newest Ocean’s 8 trailer features the crew organizing a Met Gala heist.
