CMMN SWDN Partners With Ace & Tate on Debut Eyewear Capsule

Inspired by ‘The Matrix’ and ’90s rave culture.

London-based label CMMN SWDN has collaborated with Amsterdam eyewear brand Ace & Tate for its first every sunglasses collection. The capsule builds on previous similar themes from previous CMMN SWDN collections, with urban youth culture and, in particular, ’90s rave culture both playing a role.

Consisting of two different shapes — one in acetate and another in metal — the frames are named after characters from Blade Runner and The Matrix. This is a subtle nod to a further 1990s influence on the collection, with sportswear from the era surrounding Y2K. Discussing the capsule, the team behind CMMN SWDN explained that “the glasses are extending upon the theme of our recent collection of retro futurism. The slim and proportioned sunglasses hint at sci-fi movies of the past but are designed for now.” The “Neo” and “Pris” frames from CMMN SWDN and Ace & Tate are set to release via the Ace & Tate web store on April 26.
