Ryan Reynolds Shares Deadpool's 'Avengers' Rejection Letter
“Go bother Prof. X.”
To celebrate the record-breaking success of Avengers: Infinity War, Ryan Reynolds has shared the response to Deadpool‘s application to join the Avengers crew. In the rejection letter, Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) replies saying “No. Absolutely not. Go bother Prof. X. No.” Sharing the letter, Reynolds congratulated the movie: “from a guy who never knows when to quit, I’m glad you guys never did. Congrats.”
Despite Stark’s rejection, the real reasons for Deadpool’s exclusion are more mundane. Although the satirical character exists within the Marvel comic universe, the movie franchise is owned by 20th Century Fox, whereas the Avengers series — and all the characters included in it — is produced by Marvel and distributed by Disney.
There is also a new Deadpool movie on the way, with the final-action packed trailer for Deadpool 2 dropping recently.
