Adult Swim's April Fools' Prank Is a Pleasant Surprise for Anime Fans

Following last year’s surprise premier of Rick and Morty season 3, Adult Swim‘s Toonami has just released the first episode of the rebooted cult classic, FLCL. An original series released in 2000, Fooly Cooly was written by Yōji Enokido and directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki. The show built up a big cult following over the years, and fans are ecstatic at the arrival of FLCL: Alternative. While the season premiere is news in itself, anime enthusiasts are more excited that Toonami chose to air the Japanese version with English subtitles. With such a positive reception to subbed anime, maybe Toonami will open up to the idea and follow up with more.
