A Closer Look at the Custom-Made Pizza Hut Pie Tops II
The tongue features the ability to order pizza and pause your tv.
With March Madness afoot, Pizza Hut teased the latest iteration of its custom-made Pie Top II. For the second year running, the brand enlisted the talent of The Shoe Surgeon for its conception, and now we have a closer look at the hand-crafted sneaker.
A progression of last year’s high-top silhouette, the shoe arrives in wheat and red with each tone featuring a unique set of materials. Atop a completely rubberized sole, the upper of the wheat iteration consists of a tumbled nu-buck while in contrast, the red version consists of mostly full-grain leather with hits of suede on the toe cap and heel. A patent leather splash of “marinara” accents the medial and lateral while white translucent webbing, or “cheese grater mesh”, cages the emblazoned “PIZZA HUT” lettering. Allusions to pizza proprietor’s namesake are further used as logo-ing which embellishes an embossed hangtag, lace lock, tongue, heel and ankle collar. The insole also gets the Pizza Hut treatment and additional “cheese pull” laces are included as an alternative to the tonal stock.
