Life on Cherry Tree Lane continues.
With more than 50 years separating them, it looks as if Mary Poppins is set to receive its long-awaited sequel courtesy of Disney. The original film debuted back in 1964, with this adaptation serving as a continuation of the initial blockbuster smash.
Set in 1930s London, Michael Banks, now a grownup still living in the famed Cherry Tree Lane home with his three children, suffers a personal setback — spurring on the return of everyone’s favorite mystical nanny. Mary Poppins will be played by Emily Blunt, with Meryl Streep signing on to play the role of Topsy Turvy-Poppins. The film is scheduled to hit theaters around Christmas.
