Jaguar Helps Celebrate the XJ's 50th Birthday With a Heavy Metal-Inspired Custom
Made for Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain.
Jaguar is celebrating the XJ’s 50th birthday this year, and has thought of a unique way to help commemorate the milestone. Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, who also happens to be an XJ Series III enthusiast, has received a custom creation courtesy of Jaguar’s Classic Works department.
Aptly dubbed “Greatest Hits,” McBrain’s new Series III features a smokey purple paint job and boasts a 4.2-liter six cylinder engine, three E-type SU carburetors and a custom exhaust with quad tailpipes. Playing right into the drummer’s heavy metal nature, the vehicle’s “Pimento Red” leather-adorned interior has been reimagined with a handful of rock-inspired accents. For instance, the dashboard knobs resemble guitar amplifiers, a 1,100-watt audio system has been installed, not to mention the steering wheel logo, which combines Iron Maiden’s ”Eddie” mascot with the Jaguar “Growler” logo.
