Fondazione Prada's OMA-Designed Milan Complex Is Opening to the Public

Fondazione Prada, Prada‘s institution dedicated to contemporary art and culture, is opening its OMA-designed building to the public next month. The 60-meter tall white concrete tower is a former gin distillery dating from 1910 located in the Largo Isarco industrial complex on the southern edge of Milan.
The full Fondazione Prada complex combines seven existing buildings with three new structures — the Podium, Cinema and Torre — housing exhibition spaces displaying works and large installations from the Prada Collection. The architecture ties together a variety of contrasting fragments whose appearances change according to different perspectives. This design composition is intended to constantly evolve and never form a single defined image, thus reflecting the artistic vision of the foundation.
The complete Fondazione Prada complex will open to the public on April 20. Take a preview of the space above and for more repurposed architecture, an ancient Chinese mansion got transformed into a modern boutique hotel.
