adidas Spezial's Spring/Summer 2018 Second Footwear Drop Is Inspired by Old-School Electronic Classics
As told by Gary Aspden.
Earlier this month ultra-talented adidas Creative Consultant Gary Aspden broke down the popular sportswear label’s adidas Spezial Spring/Summer 2018 footwear capsule. Motivated by rave culture and the period known as the “Second Summer of Live,” Aspden opened up to END. about specific inspirations and more. Now, for the second leg of adidas Spezial’s Spring/Summer 2018 footwear lineup, Aspden once again sits down with END. to share some insight.
As Aspden reveals, part two of adidas Spezial‘s Spring/Summer 2018’s range takes its inspirational cues from the culture-shifting movements that took place within British’s ’80s music scenes. Specifically, Aspden references Acid House, venues with cult followings and more.
“Delving into the Three Stripes enviable archives, Aspden has mixed his real-life experiences with era-specific reference points, pulling out integral pieces worn at illegal parties and raves of the time and adding his unmistakable slant to present a collection of footwear styles that are both culturally and commercially relevant today,” reads a statement from END.
Concerning the actual output of adidas Spezial’s second Spring/Summer 2018 footwear drop, we’re being blessed with the new Handball Kreft SPZL, the “minimalist” Lacombe SPZL, ZX 280, Padiham SPZL and CLMBA SPZL.
