Nintendo Confirms Plans for 'Super Mario' Movie
In collaboration with the studio behind ‘Despicable Me.’
After rumors began circulating in November last year, Nintendo has now confirmed that it is set to produce a Super Mario movie. As expected, the film will be a collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination, the Californian animation studio that is best known for producing all of the films in the Despicable Me franchise. Co-producers for the movie are listed as Shigeru Miyamoto, who created Mario, and Chris Meledandri, the Illumination founder.
As it stands, there is no news on when the movie will arrive in theaters, so keep checking back for details when they’re released. The announcement comes on the back of some good news for Nintendo, with the Japanese game company revealing that profits were up by a huge 261 percent, in large part due to the success of the Nintendo Switch.
