Mojang Studios has officially announced that Minecraft is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, 2026. The launch brings the best-selling video game of all time to Nintendo’s next-generation console with upgraded visual features built specifically for the new hardware.
By default, the Switch 2 edition will enable Vibrant Visuals, an enhanced graphics mode previously released by Mojang Studios that incorporates directional lighting, volumetric fog, and detailed shadows. Nintendo’s platform-exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up pack will also receive the Vibrant Visuals treatment, though the graphics boost will not be available during split-screen play, certain game modes, or select Marketplace Worlds.
While Mojang Studios has yet to confirm whether the title will support Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for precise building, current Nintendo Switch owners will be offered an official upgrade path, with further details expected closer to launch. The arrival follows another major release for the franchise, with spin-off title Minecraft Dungeons II scheduled to hit PC and consoles on September 29.
