The latest hotel space to catch our eye is the newly-built Lost Villa residence, based in Zhejiang, China. It’s based on the residence of what used to be a state-owned silkworm farm in Yucun, Moganshan in the Zhejiang Province. The definition of “off-the-beaten-path,” this venue is only accessible by using a nearby mountain trail, which is a holdover from the state’s former ownership of the building. Furthermore, the area around Lost Villa is nearly abandoned, with primary schools and other buildings left empty.

This meant that the hotel had to respect the area and create a design that both paid respect to the surroundings while transforming the interior. There’s several public programs for the locals, such as a separate but connected cafe, restaurant and a small exhibition area. The rooms themselves make maximum use of sunlight, each offering picturesque views of the garden. Finally, there’s also a swimming pool and open backyard area, as well as a secluded villa that can be rented out to an entire family. Take a look through the gallery to see the Lost Villa hotel for yourself before booking the space at Lost Villa’s website.

In other, quite different, hotel news, there’s actually a Game of Thrones-themed ice hotel in existence now.
