JIEDA Fall/Winter 2018 Is Influenced by 'Paris, Texas'

The Japanese label showcases raw-hemmed denim, big suits and playful graphics.

Ascending Japanese label JIEDA follows up on its renoma paris-centric Spring/Summer 2018 collection with a look at its upcoming Fall/Winter 2018 release. Taking cues from 1984’s Paris, Texas, the clothing ranges from loose-fitting, retro streetwear styling to reclaimed sportswear.

JIEDA blends referential pieces with updated cuts — vintage-inspired Texan graphics appear on the rear of drop shoulder jackets and the front of oversized T-shirts, while a fleece quarter zip jacket boasts wide, extended sleeves. Beefy lapels accentuate the relaxed cut of a double-breasted houndstooth suit and its black counterpart. Elsewhere, slouchy knitwear, oversized shirting and a comfy tracksuit further recall ’80s style, and “Paris Texas” branding on hats and tees ensures that the collection’s inspiration is clear. Braided belts, backwards caps and a variety of retro-minded sneakers, including Dime’s DC Shoes collaboration, accentuate the mood.

Expect the goods to hit the brand’s Kikunobu web store later this year. Fellow Japanese imprint THE NERDYS also took cues from vintage goods for its Fall/Winter 2018 lookbook, looking backwards for massive, printed jeans and shaggy sweaters.
