2017 was a big year for J Hus, with the London-born rising star releasing his long-awaited debut album. Following on from that success, the young rapper was nominated for three BRIT Awards, including British Breakthrough Act, British Album and British Single, for his track “Did You See.”

To celebrate those nominations, J Hus has partnered with Beats by Dre‘s Beat x Beat series to talk about how the now-platinum single came about and give a deeper insight into how it was made. Speaking alongside his producer, JAE5, J Hus discusses everything from how he felt in the build up to the release (“a bit nervous, I didn’t release for a long time, it was like over a year properly. It felt like a come back for me. At that moment in time I went through a lot of things, life was kind of hectic, but it just felt like yeah, ‘J Hus is here to stay’. I made my mark, it did a lot for me still I’m not going to lie to you”) to performing the track for the first time: “I’m looking in the crowd and seeing family members I’m seeing everyone, everyone just came out to support, it was crazy.”
