Coachella Is Suing Indie Music Festival Hoodchella
Violating.

Indie festival boss of all bosses, Coachella is reportedly suing 2015 indie festival upstart, Hoodchella, on means of trademark infringement. Hoodchella launched in California last year and was scheduled to take place again this year on April 8-9, exactly one week before Coachella. Goldenvoice, the organizers behind Coachella are trying to stop it, claiming Hoodchella infringes on their trademarks, creates unfair competition and dilutes their brand. Hoodchella supporters meanwhile, have began a Change.org petition to support the festival, stating:
“Everyone who supports Hoodchella Los Angeles knows that we are not in anyway associated with Coachella and we have never been associated with Golden Voice, AEG, or Coachella. It’s clear that our fan base knows we are two completely different establishments being that we already gained a fan base from our past underground art and music shows.”
Coachella’s lawsuit comes to light just as tickets for the second annual Hoodchella fest went on sale. Meanwhile, Hoodchella has yet to announce their line up which is hand selected from artist submissions, while Coachella has already confirmed LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses as this years headliners.
