Miami Police Shutdown SoleFly's Air Jordan 1 "Art Basel Miami" Release
With great hype comes great responsibility.

Miami boutique SoleFly recently announced the release of a new collaboration with Jordan Brand, teasing two new Air Jordan 1s to be released during Miami’s annual Art Basel. The first announced pair, dubbed the SoleFly x AJ1 “Art Basel Miami,” mimics the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard,” while the other colorway retains a patent leather upper that is limited to just 223 pairs. With the mounting hype behind the sneakers during one of the year’s most important events, things at the release got out of hand.
On December 8, the Miami Police shut down the release due to mounting safety concerns and rioting. SoleFly in a Tweet noted that “due to safety concerns the police have deemed it unsafe to release at one our planned locations,” following up in another tweet that “as safety is our number one priority, we’ve had to cancel our release today.” SoleFly announced that they will be rescheduling the launch for a later date.

We can’t thank everyone enough for the support!
Due to safety concerns the police have deemed it unsafe to release at one of our planned locations.
We are diligently working on alternate plans to make this release possible.
