Jordan Peele's 'Us' First Official Trailer Is Horrifying
A slight mix of ‘The Strangers’ and ‘The Purge.’
When Jordan Peele revealed the first teaser images for Us after his debut box office smash Get Out, fans were eagerly awaiting a new addition of the heralded director’s modern twists on horror. Now, the Us official trailer is here, and it provides another dimension to horror films that both retain classic scary-movie elements with present day social commentary.
The first look and synopsis from the trailer is apparent; a close-knit suburban family is threatened at their beach house by four masked “strangers” who arrive at their home. Once the plot thickens, the family realizes their visitors are counterparts of themselves, with evil spirits and sinister motives. The cast is made of award-winning actors and actresses — Winston Duke (Black Panther), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) — and produced by Jordan Peele as well. The film is slated to release on March 14.
Watch the first trailer above and stay tuned for more news on Us. Peele will also be occupied in 2019 with rebooting the upcoming Twilight Zone series.
