Advent Calendar Day 4: John Elliott x Blackmeans Leather Rider Jacket

Californian designer John Elliott is known for his approachable takes on laid-back staples, delivering quality and style in ample quantities, made all the more obvious by this weighty leather jacket. Fall/Winter 2018 sees Elliott rejoining Japanese punk leather-workers Blackmeans for a heavy-duty revision of the classic rider’s jacket, upgrading that effortless, yet trim, West Coast cut with an exquisitely supple leather shell crafted by hand in Japan, like everything else on the jacket. Punk insouciance is elevated by premium detailing, including a plush quilted lining, hefty metal hardware on the waist belt and Swiss Riri zippers, complete with matching leather pull tabs. More subtle revisions include shoulder gussets for ease of movement and a slightly extended rear hem for a distinctive shape.

The winners of the Advent Calendar will be announced on December 27.
