The Weeknd Unveils 'Starboy' Trailer & Announces New Film 'Mania'
We’re just a few days away from the LP’s release.
[gallery columns="3"]The promotional campaign for The Weeknd’s highly-anticipated third studio album Starboy is stronger than ever. Following the release of a pair of new singles — “Party Monster” and “I Feel It Coming” — and news of pop-up shops in support of Starboy, Abel Tesfaye has dropped off a cryptic new trailer in support of his next project and revealed plans for an accompanying film.
The Weeknd’s new vignette is based on a countdown to the release of Starboy; its title of “5 DAYS LEFT” reflects the current march to the record’s official debut. While not as well-constructed as some of the impressive visuals for the Starboy singles, today’s clip will certainly aid in keeping the hype machine for the new The Weeknd album going.
Along with the music he plans to drop later this week, The Weeknd also has his sights set on film. Specifically, The Weeknd has introduced a new film based on Starboy titled Mania. The Starboy companion piece is directed by Grant Singer, one of The Weeknd’s go-to directors and closest collaborators.
