Drake's "Sicko Mode" Verse Was Finished Hours Before 'Astroworld' Release
Revealed by Travis Scott’s longtime A&R, Sickamore.

During a recent panel on technology’s influence in contemporary hip-hop, Raekwon, No I.D and Travis Scott‘s longtime A&R, Sickamore, revealed their thoughts on the evolution of the music genre they have seen thus far. Sickamore revealed that without the modern day conveniences brought by advancements in technology, “Sicko Mode” would have not become the song we now know and love.
Noting his positive outlook on technology’s influence in contemporary hip-hop, Sickamore said that Drake‘s verse for the song was completed at 2 a.m., the same day Astroworld was set to release. Meaning without the speed of technology, we may have seen a Drake-less “Sicko Mode” or the song cut from the album altogether. Unfortunately, the rest of the panel did not feel as positive about technology’s place in music, as No I.D. believes technology interferes with the human interaction of production and Raekwon notes a balance is required.
