Slam Jam Socialism‘s ‘Listen To This’ third instalment asks the C.E co-founder to delve into the rich musical history that has matched the cult brand’s language. 1. D Double E – Woo Riddim

“C.E started in 2011 – we took some samples to London and that was the public start of the brand. We were hearing the Woo Riddim everywhere. Our first lookbook was modelled by D Double E and shot by Tim and Barry… As was the second one.”

2. Zomby – Horrid

“We did a presentation in Tokyo Fashion Week for AW 2013. Zomby sent me some unreleased demos and I got my friends Will Bankhead and Joy O to mix them together into a 15 minute soundtrack, this song was sort of the highlight of the mix. It was eventually released on his With Love album. It was the 3rd time we’d worked with him. This is the video of the show.”

2a. Joy O – Ellipsis

“Oh, and you can hear Will playing Joy O’s Ellipsis at the start of it.”

3. Rezzett – Goodness

“We’ve worked with Rezzett on a couple of things. This was used as the soundtrack on a video that Ito Takashi made for our AW 2014 collection and was later released on The Trilogy Tapes. The following season they performed for us at Tokyo Fashion Week.”

4. Orbidoig – Nocturnal Operations

“This has become a sort of anthem for us. It’s an old, kind of rare, synthpop tune – it’s great in itself; but we also like the combination with the film Glissements Progressifs de Plaisir by Alain Robbe-Grillet which was done by the master of Youtube montage videos Der Todesking. This was the last tune that was played the first time that we switched to doing parties in a club instead of fashion events in Tokyo (2015).”
