While preparing for his latest show during Seoul Fashion Week, Seoul-born, Tokyo-based designer Bajowoo sat down to discuss his fast-growing label 99%IS. In the interview, the designer talks about his past and how a trip to an iconic subculture club in the ’90s placed him on the track to embrace punk sensibilities, before founding his label eight years ago. Additionally, Bajowoo explains just what 99%IS means stating, “There is that whole 1 percent of culture that most people don’t care about, but to me and my friends, it is our 99 percent.” The designer also hopes his subversive hands-on DIY label will garner change in the fashion community and establish, pointing out his friends from Japan, Thailand, China and Hong Kong that he invited to his latest show.
