Mercedes-Benz Unveils New G-Class for 2019
The military ride gets major updates.
Today, Mercedes-Benz presented its all-new G-Class at the Detroit Auto Show. The latest 500 model packs a 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 422 HP. As many have hoped, the highly anticipated G-wagon touts improved on-road performance and drivability. The better handling is a result of a redesigned suspension which also provides strong off-road handling thanks to an independent front axle raised to maximum levels to ensure smooth rides across rugged terrains. The German automaker also enhanced the nine-speed transmission with dedicated software to decrease response times while switching gears. Functional renovations include increased legroom and luggage capacity while cosmetic upgrades offer aluminum trims and leather seats.
We expect the latest G500 to launch in May for an entry price of €107,040 EUR, or approx. $129,800 USD, remaining close to the current MSRP.
