The Weinstein Company has just released the official trailer for the forthcoming movie, The Current War. Centering upon “The War of the Currents” in the late 19th century, Oscar-winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch helms the role of Thomas Edison who is on the warpath to destroy fellow inventor George Westinghouse’s gas light technology. On the opposite end, Westinghouse—played by acclaimed actor Michael Shannon—makes numerous attempts to debunk Edison’s direct-current transmission system for electricity. Not to mention, Nicholas Hoult takes on Nikola Tesla’s character in the historical film.
