Raf Simons' Reinvigorated Calvin Klein Gets Misty-Eyed in New Editorial
Focusing on the brand’s 205W39NYC line.
It’s been little over a year since legendary Belgian designer Raf Simons took on creative control of Calvin Klein, reinventing the label, using the all-American brand to offer his interpretation of the United States today. His first show for the label opened with a cover of David Bowie‘s “This Is Not America,” and the single’s lyrics have also been used in a new editorial looking at Simon’s debut collection for the label from Canadian e-tailer SSENSE.
The “Wet” editorial — shot and styled by husband and wife duo Ana and Dank Steiner – focuses on Calvin Klein’s luxury ready-to-wear 205W39NYC line, launched by Simons earlier this year, with key pieces from both the men’s and women’s collections starring in the shoot. The editorial also explains that the designer’s debut collection “does not ask to be defined. It is an alloy of work-wear, decadence and functionality.”
The first collection from Calvin Klein 205W39NYC is available now from select retailers including SSENSE. Raf Simon’s American dream for Calvin Klein continued into his second collection, which was recently shown at New York Fashion Week.
