Bruce Weber Shares Never-Before-Seen Photos of '90s Celebs

Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Mark Wahlberg, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

Renowned photographer Bruce Weber has lensed some of the biggest stars for the glossiest covers and campaigns. For the upcoming issue of CR Fashion Book, Weber shares never-before-seen photographs of iconic ’90s celebrities. The archival series, titled “bedtime stories,” features brilliant images of Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Mark Wahlberg, Red Hot Chili Peppers, River Pheonix, Natalie Portman, Drew Barrymore and more. Some intimate and others playful, the portraits depicted the stars from a more personal or theatrical perspective. “Many of them were fragile, but had winning characters — and they all expressed a courage that I hope stays with them forever,” Bruce Weber wrote.

“In the ’90s, I spent lots of time hanging out and photographing at my home away from home: the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. I’d stay in the penthouse for weeks on end — my life in those days was a little bit like a Pasolini film set to a score by Neil Young,” reflects Weber. “There was lots of room service, many late-night calls of desperation from the people I was going to photograph the next day. Sometimes they would come by and play a tune on the guitar or recite a poem.”

Flip through the photo series and check out the full spread at CR Fashion Book‘s website. The new print issue will release on September 7.
