BornxRaised Unveils Its First Delivery of Fall 2017
Inspired by Native American culture.

BornxRaised has revealed plans for its first major collection of the Fall 2017 fashion season. Once again, founder Spanto and his crew aim to add a contemporary edge to the style that comes with Los Angeles street culture. However, this time around, BXR injects a healthy dose of appreciation for the Native American society, connecting that community’s struggle with his own. As Spanto reveals, his great grandmother also comes from the White Mountain Apache Reservation and his grandfather is from the Tonawanda Seneca Rez. Adding to the Native American aesthetic of BornxRaised’s new drop, the brand also shot its campaign at Arizona’s San Carlos Apache reservation — Spanto even said the shoot was particularly “close” to his heart and “echoes a huge part” of his upbringing.
“I remember seeing the phrase “Relocation is Genocide” tagged all over the Big Mountain Navajo Rez one summer during Sundance ceremony,” Spanto shares. “This struck a chord and became relevant to me years later when I experience the same thing happening in Venice, via gentrification. Hence, the BXR motto ‘Gentrification is Genocide.’”
