Dana White Confirms Jon Jones Failed Drug Test Ahead of His UFC 214 Victory
Could this be the end of the fighter’s career?

At a recent press conference UFC president Dana White confirmed that Jon Jones failed a drug test ahead of his Light Heavyweight championship victory. According to White, an in-competition sample was collected at Jones’s weigh-in a day before his fight against former champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. Although testing positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol, Jones will not be stripped of his title until a final ruling has been made by the California State Athletic Commission.
Jones is expected to request that his “B” sample be tested to confirm or deny the failed test, which is still subject to an appeal by the fighter. If the results of the test hold, the fight between Jones and Cormier will be changed to a no contest. Also, Dana White notes, “If he ends up getting two or three [years], it might be the end of his career,” when asked what the future holds for Jones if the failed test result holds. Stay tuned for more details when they become available.
