Dan Harmon & the 'Rick and Morty' Team Finally Try McDonald's Szechuan Sauce
Watch their initial responses to the limited edition sauce.
As part of the marketing campaign for Disney’s 1998 theatrical release of Mulan, McDonald’s created a special Szechuan sauce that was just too delicious to only last a few weeks. The first episode of season 3’s Rick and Morty brought the sauce back into the pop culture lexicon, and as a sign of good faith, the fast food restaurant delivered some to creator Dan Harmon and the rest of the team behind the show. McDonald’s also included a note stating:
“We wish we could have brought more sauce through, but we couldn’t risk keeping a portal like that open… If we left the portal open, we’d have puka shells, bucket hats, and boy bands as far as the eye could see. It’s too risky, even for a sauce as delicious as this.”
In the video above, Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, and the rest of the crew taste the sauce and give their initial reactions. One person comments that the sauce tastes like the same sauce used for General Tso’s chicken. Check the reactions above and leave yours in the comments below.
