Though still somewhat a newcomer to the fashion scene, SELFMADE by Gianfranco Villegas has been making waves in the menswear sphere, recently debuting its Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Paris Fashion Week. This time around, the Florence, Italy-based designer presents his Spring/Summer 2018 menswear collection at Paris’ “Le Carmen” night club. Titled “We got soul/Don’t believe the hype,” the new collection continues to draw inspiration from the young designer’s Filipino-Italian roots, fusing the elegance that comes from Italian class society and the American hip-hop/street influences arising from the ghettos of the Philippines.

Strong ’70s influences are present throughout the collection, as seen in the check prints, graphic T-shirts, leather jackets and Bovver boots, as well as the phrase “We got soul.” Classic silhouettes such as denim jackets, trench coats and biker jackets are visited by premium materials such as virgin wool and leather, while hits of orange and purple accent the moody and dark color palette.

For those in Japan, SELFMADE by Gianfranco Villegas is hosting a pop-up event in Tokyo on July 14.
