John Mayer Is Dropping His DIY Nike Air Max 90s Soon
It’s not your average “collaboration.”

Earlier this week, John Mayer sat down with GQ to talk about music, fame and fashion topics– among which was his plan to release his unofficial Nike collaboration sneakers.
This collaboration isn’t the usual sneaker partnership. Rather than work with the Nike design team, John Mayer took to designing his own Air Max 90 shoe on NikeiD. The musical artist then bought every single pair he could purchase and plans to sell them to fans on his own. “I’m just waiting for it to get discontinued on their site. And I’m gonna offer it as my own shoe through my Shopify page.” he told GQ.
A few moments ago, the musician took to his Instagram to announce the release date of said sneaker. The DIY Nike Air Max 90 design boasts a grey/white/black color scheme, a speckled sole unit and a neon yellow Max Air bubble. As the caption indicates, the Air Max 90 AIR MAYER “Spirit Level” will release on July 29.
