A$AP Bari made his fashion week debut earlier with the first-ever VLONE runway show at Paris Fashion Week Men’s. Even before the show began, Bari made sure that he and his squad were well represented, with the likes of Virgil Abloh, Russell Westbrook and label co-founder A$AP Rocky coming out and even greeting guests on their way in. Once the show got rolling, some common themes began to emerge throughout the collection, such as the “Real Men Wear Black” button-up shirts and the “Friends” denim jackets presented towards the end.
The “Real Men Wear Black” shirt is a reference to the album from 1990 from Cameo that goes by the same name. This fits into the show’s theme, which was given the title “Black History,” which pays homage to Bari’s past growing up in Harlem. Other standout pieces include the Scarface button-up shirt with “VLONE” printed along the side, as well as the three colorways of the brand’s full-camo suits. When asked about the inspiration behind some of the pieces presented in the show, Bari told reporters that he wanted to make clothes that his fans – along with a few others — will appreciate. “It’s a dream. That’s it. It’s like déjà vu,” said Bari. “People like my style and they steal my style, so might as well put out clothes that people like.”
