'Pokémon GO' Is Having A "Fire & Ice" Event to Help You Catch Lapras & Charizard

Pokémon GO may have seen a significant drop in users since its height during summer last year, but Niantic‘s breakthrough game is still experiencing strong revenues with continued efforts to boost user engagement further. Its most recent action point is a new “Fire and Ice” event, which was leaked 10 days before its slated launch date on June 13. The tip-off comes from Team Eevolution, who released an “official” statement from Niantic listing the exact time and expected XP bonuses of the “Fire and Ice” event. You can find a detailed account of the event and a list of valuable Pokémon you’ll get a chance to catch in the statement below, but do take note that there’s no confirmation on the rumored event as of yet.

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs.
