Get familiar with buzzing Toronto artist Ben Stevenson on his latest creation as he joins forces with BBNG’s own Matthew Tavares for “Honey Cola.” The soothing summery single serves as the duo’s first collaboration, and hopefully not their last. Stevenson has more or less been on a hiatus since the release of his 2014 debut EP, Dirty Laundry which he worked closely on with Frank Ocean, Miguel and Tory Lanez collaborator Happy Perez.
BBNG’s Matty Tavares recalls the time they connected for the song saying, “We began working on the song in LA and finished it in Toronto in the late winter and I think the track embodies that vibe, a sunny tropical sound mixed with a chilly, electronic feel.” Meanwhile, “Honey Cola” will set stage for the Toronto singer’s debut LP Cara Cara set to drop in September with features from Toronto upstarts Daniel Caesar, Project Pablo and Birthday Boy. “The song is about a muse, a near mythical creature who is at once alluring yet terrifying. She embodies truth and beauty and forces you to realize that you cannot hold on to either…you allow it to pass through or lose it altogether” Stevenson explains. Check it out below
