With abstracted prints and wide silhouettes giving a sense of strangeness to familiar shapes and patters, Alex Mullins continues down an off-kilter path for his 2018 spring / summer collection. With a generally minimal quality to the pieces, asymmetric detailing — such as single elongated sleeves and extra-high waists — provide a medium for the British designer to produce subtly uncanny transformations of classic forms in a style that has now become his signature.
Grays, beige tones, down-to-earth tailoring and light-coloured denim contribute to a workwear feel, counteracted by prints of Mullins’ own previous collection, stretched out to near abstraction — all contributing to the surreal feel of the 2018 spring/summer line.
