3.1 Phillip Lim Men's 2018 Spring Collection Is Perfect for the Artist Inside Us
Inspired by artists like Kelly, Pollock and Twombly.

While his 2017 fall collection explored the “Romancing Reality” montra, Phillip Lim draws inspiration from painters for his 2018 spring collection. Exploring the life of a painter — which most of the time is means being not only being an artist but also someone who multi-tasks through life — this new 3.1 Phillip Lim collection took nostalgic photos of great painters like Ellsworth Kelly, Jackson Pollock and Cy Twombly, and turned them into a homage on apparel canvases.
“We started with the quintessential painter’s uniform — aprons, smocks, canvas, raw denim — and reimagined this category of utilitarian workwear into clothes that men could incorporate and adapt for a modern, youthfully elegant wardrobe,” Lim explained.
While most of us aren’t “starving artists,” the struggle of juggling a passion and being able to make a living is a plight that’s relatable for many today and this collection reflects that perfectly. Check out the looks above and let us know your thoughts.
