The Victoria & Albert Museum in London has announced a new exhibition showing the ways that Balenciaga‘s namesake founder has shaped modern fashion. “Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion” is the first in the U.K. to look at Cristobal Balenciaga’s work and his design approach. The show features more than 100 important pieces by the designer, his protégés, and modern designers who are inspired by his legacy to work in the same way. The opening of the exhibition marks 100 years since Balenciaga opened his first boutique in his native Spain and the 80th anniversary of the founding of his influential fashion house in Paris.
The V&A’s “Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion” exhibition opens on May 27 and runs until February 18, head to the museum’s website for more information.
