Urban Outfitters and FILA Team up for an Old School Basketball Collection
“Streetball style.”
Korean sportswear brand FILA has teamed up with Urban Outfitters for a basketball collection. After tapping Lil Yachty for its Spring 2017 Nautica collab, UO has shifted its focus towards recapturing ’90s aesthetics and the spirit of “streetball style.” Drawing inspiration from famous basketball courts like “The Cage” at West Fourth Street, New York to the oceanside courts at Venice Beach, California, FILA’s lasting impact on style is prominently featured through its logo and classic styles like mesh tanks and tearaway pants.
In addition to the reversible mesh tank and tearaways, the eight-piece men’s collection also includes mesh shorts, two long-sleeve tees (one with a Mickey Mouse graphic), a short-sleeve T-shirt, a jacket, and drawstring gym bag. The women’s collection, comprised of seven pieces includes a jersey tank, basketball shorts, a cropped mesh jersey, a cropped hoodie, tearaway pants, a jacket, and a romper. There are also slides and sneakers available.
The collection ranges from $16 USD to $100 USD and is available at urbanoutfitters.com today and will be available in North American stores starting May 22. FILA will also be donating $10,000 USD to the Boys & Girls Club in celebration of the launch.
