Instagram Wants to Be Snapchat So Badly That It Now Has Fun Face Filters
Another feature to make your IG experience more fun.
Instagram now has face filters according to the social media company’s press release. Much of IG’s newest features have been blatant takes of Snap‘s functions and this new roll out is no different. According to the release:
Today, we’re introducing face filters in the camera, an easy way to turn an ordinary selfie into something fun and entertaining. Whether you’re sitting on the couch at home or out and about, face filters help you express yourself and have playful conversations with friends.
If you remember, Instagram also copied Snapchat’s disappearing messages feature and geo stickers functions. As for “Face Filters,” expect “swirling math equations,” “furry koala ears,” and “a variety of characters” for IG’s initial introduction of the function. How much of the other filters will mimic Snap’s will soon be determined as in the popular puppy ears, floral crown wreath and voice changing capabilities.
Other additions being implemented on IG is the “Rewind” feature which plays videos in reverse, a new Boomerang camera, and hands-free feature. Check out your Instagram account now for all the latest.
