HBO's 'The Deuce' Looks at the Rise of the Porn Industry in New York City

James Franco stars in the latest project from ‘The Wire’ creator David Simon.

After last joining forces in 2015 for the Oscar Isaac-led miniseries Show Me A Hero, HBO and The Wire creator David Simon have finally unveiled their latest project, The Deuce. Teased above, the upcoming series sees Simon working alongside author George Pelecanos and tells the story of porn’s legalization and subsequent rise in New York’s Times Square in the ’70s and ’80s. A look at what would ultimately become a billion-dollar industry, the series stars James Franco as twin brothers — and fronts for the mob — Vincent and Frankie Martino while Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a sex worker named Candy.

Check out the teaser above and look for The Deuce to premiere on September 10.
