Nolan Zangas, aka @night.shift on Instagram, is part of a new generation of urban photographers honing their craft in the digital age. Enabled by a global community created by social media platforms, these photographers are able to showcase, share and exchange their work with like-minded creatives around the world. But pulling out a smartphone for a few snaps and some preset filters is far different than having a comprehensive understanding of lighting, composition, and the studied nuances of photography. Nolan is one of the few that understands both sides of the new photo frontier — evidenced by a portfolio of moody shots that emphasize vivid color and emotion in his surroundings.
Interested to learn more about his process, HYPEBEAST linked up with Nolan in New York City to hear and see how he explores the city streets, what he looks for in a subject and what his thought process is as he hunts down his ideal shot. Watch the video above to see Nolan’s journey through Brookyln using the adidas NMD_R2 as his vehicle of exploration. Then, when you’re ready to take your own journey, you can learn more about the latest iteration of the insanely popular BOOST-soled silhouette, which will be at select adidas stockists on April 6 by heading over to the official adidas website.
