New Japanese Label K'rooklyn Takes Inspiration from Spike Lee's 1994 Film
’90s-era Brooklyn finds its way to Tokyo in 2017.

The latest in Japan’s long-lived fascination with American culture is K’rooklyn, a new label based in Tokyo that is heavily inspired by Spike Lee’s seminal 1994 semi-autobiographical film, Crooklyn. Capturing the oversized fits of that era, K’rooklyn’s first collection features sweats and tees and black and grey, subtly embroidered with the brand’s collegiate logo. To commemorate this first release, the label is holding the “K’rooklyn Fes” block party at the COMMUNE 2nd venue in Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama neighborhood, where its designs will be sold in the presence of DJ performances by the KANDYTOWN crew.
