Tokyo-based sneaker boutique Kinetics has partnered with FILA to revisit the sports brand’s glory days in the ’90s, with the 96GL basketball sneaker at the center of the collaboration. The FILA 96 gained infamy on the courts thanks to NBA star Grant Hill, who made it his signature sneaker. Kinetics has revived the silhouette — alongside two simple logo tees in white and navy — in head-turning reflective gold patent leather paneling and prominent FILA branding. Limited to 50 pairs only, the Kinetics x FILA 96GL “Metallic” will be sold for ¥14,000 JPY (approximately $125 USD) online from May 2 onwards. Meanwhile, the limited edition logo tees will be sold for¥5,400 JPY (approximately $48 USD) each.
