Jerry Lorenzo Explains His Influence for the Fear of God 1987 Basketball Sneakers
Based on the uniforms of the players at the time.
Fear of God has released a new video telling the story behind the recent 1987 collection, focusing on the black and white basketball sneakers. As told, back in the ’80s the Boston Celtics team all wore uniformed sneakers — no matter what brand each player wore, whether it was Nikes or New Balance, their sneakers were always black and their laces were always white. The 1987 Collection is a way of paying respect to the Celtics organisation, and the infamous rivalry between LA and Boston that came to define that era of basketball culture. As well as the basketball sneakers, the collection includes jerseys, satin coach jackets, and hoodies in the team’s famous green and white.
Watch the video recap above, and take a look at what went down when Fear of God released the collection with a pop-up launch in the Back Door Bottega in Bologna, Italy.
