Earlier this week, acclaimed actor, writer and comedian Charlie Murphy passed away at the age of 57 after a battle with Leukemia. To honor his close friend and creative collaborator, Dave Chappelle decided to cook up a special tribute while onstage with John Mayer. Standing by Mayer’s side for a Columbus, OH tour stop at the Value City Arena, Chappelle asked Mayer to deliver a performance specifically for Charlie Murphy and his storied career. Together with Chappelle, Mayer delivered a proper send-off with a live rendition of “You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me.” “Rest in peace Charlie Murphy, we love you, we loved your comedy, we loved your stories and we love your spirit,” concluded Chappelle.
