A 16 seed has never beaten a number 1 team, but times are changing.
While there have been eight number 15 seeds that have defeated number 2 teams, with Middle Tennessee’s stunning win over Michigan State in 2016 the most recent, there has never been a 16-1 upset in the history of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which equates to a record of 0-128 since 1985. Sure, the odds are far from being in their favor, but we should have seen at least one 16 seed win, right?
